Town Parish Audit is a specialist internal audit organisation, specifically set up to meet the needs of town and parish councils and community organisations.
This means that your organisation can be confident that it meets the requirements of the current JPAG Practitioners Guide to Proper Practices.
Hi, I am Naomi Goddard, founder of Town Parish Audit.
While working with a retiring local council auditor and subsequently searching for other local auditors I realised that there was a gap in the market in terms of specialist town and parish councils and community organisations auditors in the Yorkshire and Lancashire region.
As I am sure you are aware in recent years it has become increasingly important to select a specialist auditor, who understands that their brief should cover the effectiveness of the organisation’s overall risk management, control and governance processes. As we all know it is not just about the cashbook.
I have lived in West Yorkshire, near the border with Lancashire, for the past thirty years. Over this period, I have worked in a financial and project management capacity for Oldham, Rochdale, Manchester and Kirklees local authorities and Hebden Royd Town Council, managing and monitoring large council budgets and bringing in external funding.
Until recently I was Town Clerk/Responsible Financial officer of a medium sized Town Council and I continue to work part-time for a local Town Council as Responsible Financial Officer, and as Parish Clerk at a nearby Parish Council. Finance and project management are my thing, I am easy to talk to and can bridge the gap between accounting speak and officer speak. Please feel free to give me a call.
Qualifications / Experience:
A unique element of Town Parish Audit is that our auditors all have a local council/authority background and have completed all Finance for Local Councils CiLCA qualification units. In fact, the auditors are, or have been, town or parish clerks and responsible financial officers and therefore know how local council/3rd sector organisation finances should be, and are, organised.
- • we have 16 or more years’ experience of local authority, community organisation and local council finances
- • are ILCA and/or CiLCA qualified
- • currently work in the sector
